Kerry,
I've actually performed training on how to conduct "one to one" relational meetings in several places.  They're called "relational" meetings because the goal of the session is to develop a relationship as well as garner information.

I've attached two of the "teaching aids" I use to this message.

I am wondering if anyone has a good protocol/format for one-on-one interviews with residents as part of a neighborhood engagement process - or knows of any resources that I could refer to?  One of our groups is grappling with an appropriate "interview" format - one that isn't too rigid/formal, but has enough substance to elicit meaningful conversation about the neighborhood.  I am trying to steer them away from a formal list of multiple questions (e.g. more like a survey) - but it would be great to have some resources to back up this approach.
